Elementary Counselor

Welcome!

My name is Madison Ickert and I am so excited to be on the Elementary campus this year! I have worked in Olney ISD as the Director of Mental Health and Social Services for the last 8 years and am continuing that capacity as well as serving in the Elementary Counselor Role. I am currently working on my clinical licensure as well. I have a wonderful husband and 3 children who all attend Olney ISD! Go Cubs!

Below you will find all of the information on the lessons, character words, or social skills that we are working on with the students for the entire year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!

Social Skills

Social Skills include learning how to interact with others. These are the unspoken rules such as personal space, eye contact, and ways to express yourself in an acceptable way. These will be taught once a month and are listed on the calendar for when you can expect which skill!

Character Words

We teach character words to help our students strive socially and academically. Every morning, these traits are introduced and described over the school announcements to give students a positive focus for the day. Learning these values helps children develop empathy, resilience, and strong relationship skills, preparing them to be responsible, compassionate citizens both in and out of the classroom. This curriculum is through Core Essentials, Inc.

Explore our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum by selecting your child's grade level and the current month below. While these guides outline all possible topics for the month, Mrs. Ickert  may adapt the pace and cover only a selection of them in class. We encourage you to use these resources to continue the conversation and reinforce these valuable lessons at home! This is an opt-OUT activity, meaning that if you do not wish for your child to participate you must complete a form or email your child’s teacher.
