Forty-five (45) OHS students traveled to Archer City on Wednesday, April 3, and Monday, April 8 to compete in the District UIL contests. Olney finished 1st with 762 points out of 1647 points awarded.  Other competing schools include Archer City -- 2nd place, Nocona -- 3rd place, Seymour -- 4th place, Windthorst -- 5th place, and Petrolia -- 6th place.  Of the students competing, thirty (30) will advance to Regional on April 26-27. The regional contest will be held at Grayson College in Dennison, Texas. It's a great day to be a Cub!

State Qualifiers for Congress!

Congress

Allie Barrington (senior), Morgan Simmons (sophomore), and Ava Stewart (freshman) competed at the UIL Regional Congress meet in Wichita Falls on Monday, Nov. 13. Morgan placed 1st, Allie placed 2nd, and Ava placed third. These three students will now advance to the State UIL Congress Meet on the UT Austin campus on January 10. If any of these students advance to day two of the competition, they will debate at the State Capitol building on January 11. 

 

 

UIL/TMSCA Meet 

Please join us on November 11, 2023, for a UIL tournament (excluding: journalism, prose, poetry, hands-on computer science, and Congress) in conjunction with TMSCA in Olney. TMSCA will use Tournament Test 4 and run on the TMSCA testing schedule (all mathematics and science events). Academics will use 3rd party materials from Hexco with written tests for accounting, current events, social studies, literary criticism, and spelling. UIL topics for LD and CX debate will be used and UIL rules will be followed. Entries will be on Tabroom for speech and debate.

Regional UIL

Regional UIL Results -- Overall Sweepstakes Regional Runner-up

 

Thirty-three (33) OHS students traveled to Grayson College in Denison on Thursday, April 20, to compete in the Regional UIL contests held on Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22. Olney finished 2nd out of 52 teams as the Regional Runner-up with a total of 225 points. Olney was only 44 points behind 1st place Lindsay and was 33 points ahead of 3rd place Muenster.  Out of the students competing, ten (10) will advance to State in Austin on May 16-18. These ten (10) students represent 1st place teams of Calculator Applications, Computer Science, and Mathematics. They are also part of the 2nd place Number Sense team who will be going as the Wildcard. Two students will be advancing as individuals in Lit Crit and Informative Speaking. Speech team placed 3rd out of 13 teams. Great day to be a Cub!
